Asheville is well known for its music scene, craft beers and breweries, and amazing restaurants. Although there are plenty more to check out, here are reviews on a few of my favorites so far!
Green Tea Sushi
If you’re a Sushi fan, it’s not the most popular in Asheville, but you can still find quality restaurants. My friends and I checked out Wasabi downtown, and while it was perfectly fine, Green Tea Sushi was our favorite. Green Tea is a little more pricey, but also is better quality. Basically, it’s worth the difference. The atmosphere is on point, and the food (presentation and taste) is excellent. They also have a great drink menu!

The Southern Kitchen & Bar
This downtown pub isn’t first on my list to return to, however the food was good. If you’re style is dinner with a few drinks on the patio, then this is the place for you.
Salads at The Southern
Ultimate Ice Cream
Have a sweet tooth like me? Ultimate has been making homemade ice creams with local ingredients for seven years. They offer a variety of unique flavors sure to satisfy a sweet tooth.
Tupelo Honey Cafe
I would say Tupelo ranks number two in my restaurant review book! With a few different locations, I’m partial to the downtown restaurant. It has a charming atmosphere, and serves creative Southern-inspired dishes that are made with fresh ingredients. If you are a foodie, definitely visit Tupelo.
This fantastic cafe is just across the street from my apartment, and is worth stopping by. It was opened by a pastry chef with the idea of bringing the European cafe culture to Asheville, after summers spent in Greece at local cafes. They offer breads, pastries, chocolates, coffees, and teas. It’s a beautiful restored building that also turns into a dessert and drink bar in the evening!
Latte & quiche
If you’re looking for a unique coffee shop experience, head to the Double Decker Bus in downtown Asheville. This renovated red bus sits downtown, and offers a vintage experience with organic coffees from all over the world. After ordering inside, you can choose seating upstairs inside of the bus, at tables outside, or take your coffee to go!
Laughing Seed Cafe
My last review is of my favorite restaurant that I have found in Asheville! The Laughing Seed Cafe prides themselves on offering organic, local, and farm-to-table vegetarian cuisine with international flair. This restaurant is situated on the cute and quite Wall Street downtown, and the food is absolutely amazing. All the way from drinks to dessert, you will leave quite satisfied.

To wrap up a full day of events on a positive note, head to the Skybar downtown to watch the sunset. This more upscale venue offers classy drinks with a beautiful view of the mountains. Upon entering the lobby, an elevator attendant will guide you up to the balcony. As the name offers, you can enjoy a rooftop bar with a view below of downtown Asheville, and a view in the distance of the mountains and horizon. Perfect for date night or a lovely evening spent with friends!
